Facilitating Access, 2013

From August 1 – September 6, 2013 neverhitsend, a collective performatively researching communications ideology, rented a storage space in Los Angeles. It functioned as an analog parallel to the electronic storage space of a shared unsent Gmail draft used for internal communications. As a member of the collective, Gordon hired local locksmiths to make storage space key copies, one for each neverhitsend member. Each storage space key was exchanged for a copy of one personal key from each organizer. This exchange resulted in the creation of a master key ring for neverhitsend. This installation was part of a show of collective work in the basement of 356Mission.

Mission Statement consists of a coffee table, metal key shavings, an artist book made by neverhitsend called Storquest, vase of flowers, coffee in a cup, and coasters.

Facilitating Access consists of a video of locksmiths cutting storage space keys with voicemail instructions on how to find the storage space, a parking ticket received during a neverhitsend meeting, the neverhitsend master key ring, and a ceramic dish.

Security Update consists of metal key shavings, a shelf, and a step stool.
